Men are asking: Is Kybella worth it? Is it right for me?

Kybella for the treatment of excess fat under the chin and neck is becoming more and more popular.

The fact is that men in 2016 have several options to improve their jawline and contour their neck. In fact, 73 percent of people say they don’t like the extra fat under their chin and neck, according to a survey by the American Society of Dermatological Surgery found.

Here are the surgical and non-surgical options:

Smartlipo Triplex uses 3 different wavelengths and a laser to gently remove excess fat and tighten the skin from within. This procedure is invasive but can be performed under local anesthesia and leaves practically no scarring. Downtime is 3-5 days and cost varies between $2500-$5000

Some patients are against anything invasive. We also offer them a combination treatment with kybella and Ultherapy.

Kybella gradually melts excess neck fat over a few weeks and may even results in a little tightening of the skin. Subsequently any residual loose skin is tightened with either Ultherapy, Pelleve, Venus Viva, or Thermage CPT.

All these devices are offered at Forever Young Inc. and performed under light sedation for maximum efficacy and minimum pain and downtime.

Kybella treatments have 2-3 days of down time and cost $750-$1500

Ultherapy of face, neck, eyes performed by Dr. David Rahimi is $3500

We offer packages and free 6 month care credit financing

One of the most important lessons I have learned after treating Acne and Acne scarring over the past 20 years is as follows:

No single treatment works for everyone.

Acne has many causes including hormonal, bacterial and genetic components.

Acne scars also come in a variety of form and shapes: icepick, box-car (a misnomer), atrophic, rolling are just a few examples.

My approach has always been to reduce or cure acne and attack the scars using a variety of treatment modalities.

My center offer 30 variety of laser, light sources, ultrasound, and radiofrequency devices to improve acne scarring.

I am sure why it works; but it does.

Please e mail me and I will send you a free PDF copy of my book on Acne and Acne scarring.

Tuliplift™ - A surgical Facelift performed under local anethesia

Tuliplift™

Don't you wish there was a surgical facelift that could be performed entirely under local anesthesia??

In fact there is such a procedure and it was developed by Dr. David Rahimi about 17 years ago. It is called the Tuliplift™

http://www.foreveryoung.net/tulip-face-lift.html (click on our before and after videos)

www tuliplift.com

Since 1999 Dr. Rahimi has performed dozens of these Tuliplift™ procedures completely under local anesthesia and with quite impressive results. (Occasionally Dr. Rahimi also uses a little injectable pain medication, such as Demerol, or muscle relaxer to make the procedure more comfortable.)

Tuliplift™ addresses both the sagging of the tissue, volume loss, and sun damaged and discolored skin.

Here is how Dr. Rahimi himself explains the procedure: I start by removing about an inch of skin from the front of each ear. If you just remove the skin the results are temporarily and the skin stretches back within about 2 to 3 years. In order to ensure a long-lasting results the muscle and deeper tissues are also tightened with permanent sutures Fatty deposit from the neck and Jowl area is removed using laser liposuction. This is followed by tightening the neck muscles surgically. The harvested autologous fat is spun down and injected back into the nasolabial fold and cheek area. (As we age the bones of the cheek and chin resorb and the face falls. Fat is used to lift the cheekbones to their natural state) No drains are needed and a light dressing is removed the next day. Sutures are usually removed 7 to 10 days after the procedure and at that point in time Dr. David Rahimi performs a fractional Mixto CO2 laser to reduce the appearance of the surgical scars and also to remove brown spots on fine lines.

I am often asked why I don't use General Anesthesia to perform my Facelifts. The answer is quite simple: general anesthesia has far greater risks than local anesthesia and my patients understand and prefer this way of doing surgery.

Acne Scarring in Asian Patients : China Korea

How to treat Asian skin with Acne Scarring:

Patients with Asian skin have more delicate skin and require a different approach when it comes to acne scar removal.

Mixto fractional Co2 laser is a fractionated CO2 laser that can be safely used in darker skin types. We still prefer to prep the skin for 10-14 days with a combination of Retin-A cream and Hydroquinone. Laser setting are generally milder for patient with darker or more delicate skin.

In addition to lasers these are a few of the other options available when it comes to treating Asian Acne scarring:

Venus Viva

Venus Viva was FDA approved I the united states in 2015.

The device has 2 hand-pieces; the Diamond hand piece is non ablative and tightens the skin without any downtime. In fact it does not break the skin and clients can return to work immediately. Several sessions are needed.

The second hand piece is the nano-fractional ablative Radiofrequency. Tiny prongs/needles actually penetrate the skin and release radiofrequency energy under the skin (in the dermis). This is where the actually scarring is. There is 2-3 days of redness and occasional peeling.

1-2 sessions over 4 weeks are needed to get significant improvement.

What is the best laser for the treatment of Acne Scarring?

A question I am often asked by patients relates to the efficacy of specific procedures for the elimination of acne scars. The answer is invariably disappointing to them: No one procedure is capable of complete removal of all types of Acne scarring.

Patients often come in and ask for Micro-needling or Subcision or a certain laser to “eliminate” their acne scars.

I spend a substantial portion of my consultation explaining the difference between ice-pick scars, rolling scars, atrophic scars or box-car scars. I then proceed to explain the difference between fillers, lasers and tightening procedure.

Often times a combination of these modalities are needed to improve acne scars.

Deep atrophic scars need to be filled in.

Ice pick scars may need to be excised.

Rolling and Box-car scars need a combination of Subcision and Co2 laser.

My goal is to educate my patient and chose the best and most effective procedure combination for them.

I also make sure that their expectations are realistic. Most patients get 25-30% improvement with one combination treatment.

A second or even third treatment may be needed for even better results.

I recently published a book which discusses my approach and philosophy.

Kybella vs. Lipodissolve (lipo dissolve)

I have a German patient who recently sent me articles on a product widely available in Europe. It is called Lipo dissolve and seems to have similar properties as Kybella.

If you recall Mesotherapy really did not work well. It was often administered by non MDs and no one really knew what was actually in the injections.

Kybella id offered by Allergan.

Allergan is a very professional company and just purchased Kytera (the makers of Kybella) for a deal worth over 2 billion dollars.

Allergan will now ensures safety and efficacy and purity of this product.

Prices start at $750 per treatment

2-3 sessions over a few months may be needed to achieve visible and satisfactory results.

Please read about this new treatment on our website:

Treatment of pearly Penile Papules (PPP) with laser

Pearly Penile Papules (PPP) is a treatable condition that affects a small percentage of men in the United States. The small white bumps around the head of the penis are more than a cosmetic nuisance. My patients complain of occasional irritation and soreness after sex. They can be mistaken for STD and will not go away without medical intervention.

I have treated several dozen such patients over the past 15 years with a combination of Mixto Co2 laser and electrocautery with excellent cosmetic results.

The treatment is practically painless and recovery is about 4-7 days. The risk of scarring is minimal and the majority of the patients are very happy with the laser treatment.

Here are a few examples:
